Did you just buy your hair extensions but the color is not quite identical to your own hair? Or maybe you want to have some strands of the latest trendy color? Coloring your extensions is possible but not just any way and not with any dye!
Not all hair extensions can be colored: synthetic hair extensions, for example, have already been colored and chemically treated, so they are weakened. Furthermore, the color does not adhere to artificial hair. You can only color extensions made of 100% natural hair.
Follow these steps to color your extensions flawlessly!
First, prepare the necessary accessories: disposable gloves, a container, a brush, the coloring product, a comb, and aluminum foil.
Before coloring, it is essential to wash your extensions thoroughly with a suitable shampoo to eliminate the products used in the manufacturing of the extensions and to apply a special treatment for extensions. Make sure your extensions are clean and dry.
Put on your gloves to protect your skin from the dye as you run the risk of staining yourself.
Mix the dye thoroughly in the container.
Cover the attachments (clips, keratin tips, etc.) with pieces of aluminum foil.
Spread a strip of your hair extensions on aluminum foil (cut twice as wide and long as your hair extensions).
Then, evenly distribute and thoroughly apply the coloring product on your extensions using the brush.
Fold the aluminum strips to completely cover your extensions.
Let it set according to the recommended processing time. Never exceed the processing time at the risk of damaging your extensions.
Rinse and apply the care cream provided with the dye. Be aware that this step is very important!
EPC advice:
We recommend performing a color test on a small strand before coloring the entire kit to ensure the desired result.
For rinsing, it is preferable to use cold water.
It is also advisable to let the extensions dry naturally before styling or wearing them.
